idealism is the new pragmatism? (pt3/ pts 1, 2, 3) but will the support bubble pop on obama? will it spray infectious waste all over the inside of american hearts like some abscess? what if the idealism cum pragmatism should fail and the hope of americans swing back in the direction of cynicism… is cynicism even the word for it? is there a word for it? have we come so dangerously close to the fears and dreams of america at once that we tamper with the souce code of society?
we have been betrayed before, had our greater angels shouted down or killed; but the swing the pendulum is gearing up for is unprecedented like the manhattan project. there is an unspoken fear of obama; what if he succeeds? many speak a lot of fears of him; none of them are of his success and failure though both can cause vertigo in the least risk averse of us. heres a question for one; if he is more successful and popular than any other president, how long will it take to elect another minority (particularly an african-american male)?
there are a lot of neuroses embedded in that question (and not just my own). when fear is quieted, and hope proves its worth, does this stultify the drive to reach higher? i mean, as long as we are owned by china i guess theres no end in sight for make-believe fears. as long as we refrain from naming the demons and truly chasing them out we will maintain. (the brain trust of a movement is made up of expedients to a symptomology, the epidemiology and the ‘cures’ to assail the root problem is a wholly different matter.) however, from a libertarian point of view, wtf does a government have to do with final motivations? ;)
